Now that Mark Teixeira is the newest Yankee, some other Yankees may be on the move as well. Sources claims that either Nick Swisher or Xavier Nady will be traded before spring training. Teixeira will fit right into the Yankee organization, as will Swisher and Nady. Unfortunately for one of them, the dream of playing in the cathedral of baseball will be over.
Between Pittsburgh and the Yanks last year, Nady hit .305 with 25 homeruns and 97 R.B.I’s he had a mediocre on base percentage but an outstanding slugging percentage. Swisher hit .219 with 24 homeruns and 69 R.B.I’s his on base percentage was dismal as was his slugging percentage.
In my opinion, Swisher should be the one to go. I know Cashman pulled off a great deal, sending only Wilson Betemit to the White Sox for him, but you must keep in mind that he is the worst of the newly acquired Yanks. I hear people rumor all the time that Swisher will turn around this year, and go back to the mid .250 batter that he is. The only problem is that an organization that wants to do everything in its power to win will not settle for a .250 average. Nady fit right into the Yankees organization last year and will make a fine corner outfielder for years to come.
If one of them has to be traded, it should be the guy that couldn’t break .220 last year. Nady is an all-star caliber outfielder, and someone who the Yanks shouldn’t try to dump so quickly.
